Still they hate you ,, You're a vegetable ,,
Lily stood dangerously close to the edge, her stiletto heels dangling off the side, with her arms out to her side. There was a light smile painted onto her smooth red lips. It appeared she was waiting for something, her body perfectly still dangling over the edge, but what she was waiting for was not obvious. London was silent, as it often was at this time of night, not even a cat dare disturb it. Out of the blue Lily pushed off from the building, flipped in the air, landing gracefully on the floor beside a small tabby cat, she grabbed it and sunk her fangs in, quickly killing it.
It wasn't much of a meal, but then in London there wasn't much choice beside humans. And for her sisters sake Lily had promised never to feast on another mortal. But how she longed to, she longed for the feel of fresh warm blood dripping down her throat.
Pushing the dead cats body away Lily climbed back to the top of the building, laying down on the edge and becoming like stone. This was her hunting ritual. She would wait, in complete stillness until she heard something worth eating stir. Usually a rat, a cat, occasionally a large dog. Never anything particularly exciting. One of the many fall backs to living in a city.
Lily knew it was extremely dangerous for her to be out on her own, dangerous for all of her kind. And those stinking dogs. She knew she had no chance of fighting off "Them" if she was found. She would try, she would flee if she had to. Lily simply hated being watched while she hunted, by her sister, by Sam, by anyone. It was something you did alone, private.
She especially couldn't risk having someone like Sam around her when she was like this. The struggle to resist human blood was hardest for Lily, purely because she doesn't want this path. She is just doing it out of loyalty to her sister. She would happily kill any human that crossed her path and not give it a moments thought.
But she owed it to Valkyrie. Lily had take her sisters childhood away, firstly by being turned herself and disappearing for a year. And secondly for turning her sister the night of her 16th. Lily never told Vally why she turned her, just that it was safer that way. Which is true, completely true. If she'd be left mortal Lily's creator would have bled her dry.
Lily shivered at the thought and sat up, her eyes scanning the darkened sky. It appeared she would get no more food out of tonight. She jumped to her feet in one fluid movement and rounded on the person she sensed behind her, her body quickly falling into a defensive crouch, a growl echoing from her chest.

England was not the same as it used to be, especially with how many Vampires crawled the streets of London. The older Lycanthropes - oh, excuse her, Werewolves as the Vampires liked to call them- told her that their kind roamed England without a worry of a bloodsucker staking claim of territory. There were hardly any Vampires in England when she was a child and young woman. But now the streets smelled of corpses and the sickly undead smell Vampires carried with them. Astera did not hate Vampires. She hated how they smelled. She really hated when they tried to cover up their putrid scents with perfumes and colognes that stung her nostrils and caused her eyes to water.
And London smelled like Vampires.
The old tunnels were void of life of her kind except for a few bums who eyed her with distaste or greed. She had continued her prowling of the city until well after sun down and thought for a brief moment about renting a room. Ah, but why make it so plain? She was curious about the Vampire population. She had come seeking Slayers specifically but if a Vampire wanted a job done, well... money was money. Slayers were leery of her, unsure of what to think about a Werewolf who gets paid to do their job. A lot of them laughed at her, a few of them tried to kill her... yet saw the potential. A Werewolf killing a Vampire... or another Werewolf. It was a scenario not many saw coming. Of course, Astera had her own personal limitations, like if a creature was bringing no harm to the human population or to others around them she would approach the hunted and inform them of the Slayer. The hunted almost always paid her more than the Slayer - because those bastards were cheap- and then the Slayer would be wiped out.
Business was business, after all.
The Slayers always had questions. "Them" especially (though she had only met one or two in her lifetime) and their questions were a little more personal.
"By us paying you to do our dirty work, what do you expect us to do with you once there are no more Vampires and Lycanthropes?"
"Kill me," she would say with a shrug. "If I'm still alive."
"Do you honestly hate your own species that much?"
"No; I don't care about anyone equally."
And that one question they always asked... It never failed! Depending on her mood and the attitude of the one asking the question, she had various ways of responding. But it always meant one answer.
"Have you ever bitten anyone and turned them?"
"No."
Her cigarette spun lazy smoke into the air and she gazed at the rooftops. The sound of roof debris clattering to the street below and the smell in the air told her a Vampire was in the immediate area. She was not expecting the Vampire to drop to the ground directly in front of her. She blinked when the Vampire spun around and crouched with a growl. She was curious at the surprise in the other female's eyes. Astera controlled the smile that threatened and held her hands in the air, palms out.
"Don't fret," she said. "I'm unarmed. And I'm not here to cause trouble."
Unless you try to start shit, she thought, then I'll cause a bit of trouble. If I have to.

Still they hate you ,, You're a vegetable ,, Lily half pulled out of her crouch at the girls words. Not because of what she actually said but because of the familiar scent she carried.
"Well well well if it isn't Astera the infamous werewolf who kills for money" she paused and laughed softly. "It took weeks to get your stench off the base last time Sam hired you"
Astera was well known within the slayers and she was monitored. Not that she knew that of course. A werewolf like her was potentially more dangerous then the whole werewolf pack. She had no loyalties, no friends, nothing.
Lily didn't agree with Sam hiring her for work, she insisted it was a waste of money. Paying someone to do a job her or Vally could do just as well, probably even better. But there was no talking to Sam once he'd decided on something.
Lily straightened out fully from her crouch and took a small caution step away from the wolf in front of her.
"It's been a long time. Hows work?" she asked, trying to be civil, although the werewolf smell was already starting to make her eyes water.
ooc; mmlargh lack of muse sorry =[

"Yes, yes, tis I, the infamous Barkie. I am quite certain you all enjoyed the smell of... I'm told I smell a hint of rose and lily but because it was raining the wet fur really topped it all off."
Astera smiled, her words casual with a hint of humor to it. Oh yes, everyone knew her, or at least the older Vampires and Werewolves did. And she was not trusted by the general populous of the "supernatural" but she wondered how many of them knew how many lives she ended up saving and Slayers she took out. Her unpredictability, however, was what made life interesting and friends rare.
Her cigarette was removed from between her lips and tossed to the ground. Her boot snuffed it out and the smell of cloves puffed from the ground.
"Business is usual. Slayers are... the same, greedy bastards who do not pay for shit and like to think we're brainless killing machines who are out for a cheap meal and quick kill." Astera glanced up at Lily and did smile when she was the caution Lily was taking. "I'm not after you. I've done enough work with Sam to have a sense of loyalty and if there was someone after you, I would let you know ahead of time. I mean, you kill cats and rats. Slayers pity your kind and a majority believe you will be dead by winter."
ooc: ^__^ It's okee at least something's started! Lack of muse on my part I'm stilly sleepy. *Rubs eyes* Lol at the stench part, too. Bloodsuckers and Barkies don't like how each other smell. Hee-larious

Still they hate you ,, You're a vegetable ,, Lily chuckled lightly at Astera's comment. Perhaps she did smell like that to her own kind. But to Lily she just smelt... wrong. There was no other way to describe it. It didn't have anything distinctive to it, just the smell of wet dog, or just dog. But to make it fair, vampires didn't smell good to wolves either.
"Slayers will never change, believe me" she laughed to herself. That was all slayers saw the immortals as, killing machines. Thats still how they saw Lily, even Vally who had converted to a 'vegetarian' lifestyle rather a long time ago. But they still weren't trusted and probably never would be. Other then by of course Sam, but he was blinded by love, possibly lust for Lily.
Lily sighed. "Please don't be insulted by my actions, it's just..." she paused "Your smell is making my eyes water" she laughed at herself and wiped a escaping scarlet tear from her eye. Lily really hated the smell of werewolf.
"Hm. Neither you, nor i are really safe now, not with 'them' around" she paused again shaking her head "They will keep you alive until the rest of us are gone... then send you to join us." she paused once again "I wish i knew why..." she added, more to herself then Astera.
All Lily did know about 'them' is that they wouldn't touch Valkyrie. Even if she had to sacrifice her own life, even if she had to sacrifice Sam, she would not let them touch her little sister.

"There is no doubt in my mind they would keep me alive until I was the last, to see what I would. I'm a..." Astera waved her hand as she thought of the word then shrugged. "Play thing. And I'm not offended, we both hate the smell of each other."
Astera's hands dug into the pockets of her coat and she twirled around in the middle of the street. "How is Sam? He is doing well? And your sister?"
It was always easier to ask how other Vampires were doing. There were no other Werewolves, or at least ones that made themselves apparent. She smelled them, of course she did, and even found the traces they left, but it had been twenty years since she last had step foot into a pack and had really mingled with her own kind. Her job was a lonely one and perhaps that was why other Werewolves did not care for her - she mingled with the enemy.
But what about those rumors she had been hearing...? She did not keep up with rumors or news unless it was important for her line of work and though the rumors were important to her, they were taken with a grain of salt.
Astera turned to look at Lily. "Odd question, but would you care to go out? To where ever, it is your pick. Maybe even one of those 'Vampire bars' I keep hearing about. Or, hell, even your place? It has been so long since I enjoyed good company." It was a half-true statement. She had been enjoying other company but it was not good company. Lily was decent and polite though the Vampire did not trust her completely. And Astera did not blame her or hold it against her.

Still they hate you ,, You're a vegetable ,, "Whoever they are, i will kill them. I may not like my own kind by i would rather there where killed humanly then decapitated by those.... those... things" she ended passionately.
She nodded in agreement. "It's unfortunate, but it helps me hunt, just follow to stench to find the wolf." Although to be fair Lily had met more friendly wolves then she had vampires. The wolves, only controlled by their animal instinct where far more rational then vampires. It confused Lily no end, you would have thought it would have been the other way around.
"Sam is Sam. Theres no other way to describe him" she chuckled quietly and shock her head. "Valkyrie is another story... She's.... Well" she sighed giving up on the description of her sister. "You know what Valkyrie's like. She thinks she's invincible and all powerful when shes really not." Lily shrugged. Her little sister bewildered her.
Lily laughed again "Yes going out does sound fun, although where is another question. I don't think a vampire bar would welcome you nor i with open arms. she paused "And the slayer base prompts awkward questions from the other slayers.... she paused again deep in thought. "Theres always the park? If we fancy being mature" she winked playfully and chuckled once again.

Cupping a hand over her mouth to hide the grin that threatened, Astera's eyes twinkled. Lily had thought of a splendid idea, one that she agreed with wholly. The matter of Sam and sister talk was of concerns for a later time but for now, the idea of being in a park delighted her. Why would such a tiny adventure stir such emotions? Perhaps it was because it would be one of the few times she would be able to relax and enjoy herself. And there was that little missing thing called childhood she had not enjoyed... and perhaps deeper, significant meanings but who cared about those thoughts.
"I would love to go to the park. There is something so refreshing about playing on the toys and running across the paths that we may have once played on." Not her, at least, because when she was a child there were not such toys in playgrounds but oh well.
"Who cares about being mature," she breathed, her eyes focused on the direction she would take to where the park was. If it was still located there. It had been quite a time since she last visited the park or London for an extended period of time. "Last time I was in a park, I passed out from drinking too much. But I remember having fun. ...What I remember of the night. I promise to not drink... Let's go!"
Astera's boot steps followed her as she raced towards the park, the tails of her coat flapping behind her and waving goodbye to the streets and buildings. It would be no contest - if Lily raced her, Lily would beat her and that was a fact Astera was well aware of but lacked to find the caring behind it. It was fun to run and fun to pretend if only for one night.
